JUDGE SEES NO POINT IN FINING MILLIONAIRE
Multi-millionaire property developer David Henderson, who was caught up in a celebrity drug case, has escaped a fine after the judge said it would have little effect on him.

I agree with the judge on this one. While it may seem unfair, consider the purpose of the fine. It is supposed to be a punishment and also a deterent. A man worth $30 million is certainly not going to be deterred or punished by a $500 fine.

No Fines To Pay History & Civil Business Politics
You commit a crime, you should get an equal punishment. Since he is rich, how about a higher fine. Do what the Scandanavian countries do, fine people on violations in proporation of their income and there will be less crime and it's quite obvious. I wonder why New Zealand and other countries did not do the same thing.

Justice is the preserve of the rich, a clear majority of New Zealanders believe.
