Teenager Michelle Rome can't imagine life without instant messaging. Baby boomer Steve Wilson doesn't care that it even exists.

This poll is no surprise to me. Teenagers spend much more of their time in socializing and that is basically what instant messaging is. Before instant messaging there was the telephone and, take it from the mother of a teen, instant messaging is a lot less distracting to other family members.
