Should We Have An 'immune' Board

Should We Have An 'Immune' Board

Should a Category be established wherein has one Board that would essentially be a 'free for all' where the standards of spelling, grammar, being on topic and so on do not count?

I do not believe that this is really necessary here. The extent of our membership is here because of the rules and moderation that is in place and this type of board is exactly the reason we have all searched so hard to find a community as clean as it is here.

Actually, it might be fun to have one board where we can just post silliness, or post a one-word response, like "Duh!" or "Whatever..." or post a dozen smilies.

(Oh, hey, that's the Shout Box... just kidding! )

I don't see what good it would do other than promote 'silly' talk, which is not conducive to how this forum is run. If this type of board does become existent, my suggestion would be to not allow the posts placed in that board to count against post count for RPG status, etc.

Board immune Have Should

I think a silly board would be fun. It would be a board to just chat around about anything, and not worry about how long the post is, or if its spelled right. No rules except about keeping the language clean, and no debates on real issues, hard issues, are allowed. Sometimes just typing 'duh' is funny and even appropriate to a degree. Even a forum that keeps its posts clean and constructive needs to just be silly sometimes! I like the idea and vote YAH! (not yeah)

Should We Have An 'immune' Board

I know I'm new to this, and I guess a few terse words from admin have pointed out a few of my indiscretions, but, from the posts in this thread, it seems to me that the majority of the people on this board take it very seriously, and are trying to actually solve the worlds problems. I can respect that entirely as I am a guest here.
However I joined this forum for intelligent conversation, and I found that. I also joined for a bit of humor, and am finding that rather scarce.

Am I wrong in assuming that fun is an integral part of this type of conversation, and shouldn't we all be 'silly' when the mood takes us.

Maybe I am in the wrong place...I'm now officially confused (moreso than usual).

Maybe if there was an 'immune' board, I could default all my posts there....

You bring up some good points and let me briefly explain... fun / funnies / and jokes are allowed here, but the problem is this... because it is an International Community and people see humor differently, you will find one of three things:

1. People carry a 'joke' too far until becomes insulting
2. Many try to bring sexual connotations into their messages
3. People do not know how to be funny and yet still constructive, so often it just becomes nonsense.

Now there is something for off topics, but no one mentioned it... that is the 'offtopic' tag. It is there for the purpose of adding something personal / or otherwise to your constructive messages.

Lastly, I really believe that the Community tests your ability to write. The main thing is not to stop people from being funny, but to encourage them to be funny with purpose - not to hurt, not to insult, etc. Now, this thread was more of a test, but the 'Immune' Board already exists... it is called the 'Jokes Board' and no one really uses it because it was made for Upgraded Members awhile ago. Recently, I posted replies to many of the threads there in order to get the Zero Replies down. So, basically if someone is willing to donate, that means they really do care about the Community and thus have access to put 'silly' or otherwise more light talk in that Board. Go look over the threads and you will see many exist already that would hardly be considered Constructive elsewhere.

Offtopic but,
Here is an example of an off topic tag, MyInitials, please feel free to give feedback elsewhere, I am always especially interested in knowing the feelings of New Members.

Should Have 'immune' Board Community News FAQ & Feedback

I think it would be kind of neat to have an immune, off topic-ish board. I do agree that it shouldn't add to post count because the conversation most likely, though not necessarily, wouldn't be composed of constructive posting. But I think a non-sense board would be entertaining and fun, and those who do not wish to participate in it would not have to.

I would love to have a board to post that I'm in chat so somebody come visit me. smile.gif
