U.S. COULD DESIGNATE POLAR BEARS A 'THREATENED' SPECIES
The polar bears that are a famous part of Canada's North could soon be officially deemed a threatened species by the U.S. government, it was announced Wednesday.
The Polar Bear will be deemed an endangered species, but there is really very little hope for them. Polar Bears are being effected by global warming in a profound way. It is effecting their environment, reducing the amount of available food during birthing season, creating situations in which they cannot produce enough milk for their young, thus they die young. This animal is going to be a direct casualty of our pollution and global warming.
I think that Konquererz pretty much summed it up on this. It's a vicious circle for the polar bear, without their habitat they have nowhere to live or eat, and if they can't get food, they can't survive anyway.
For the polar bear, there is unfortunately not the same help available as say, an abused bear, where the tormentor could at least be removed.
It's very sad, as people take it for granted that they will always be there, and they are truly a beautiful animal.

The only predator that polar bears have are humans.
How to conserve polar bears -- and maintain subsistence harvest -- under climate change
A properly-managed subsistence harvest of polar bears can continue under climate change, according to analysis that combines sea-ice forecasts with a polar bear population model. Ref. Source 3t.
With the north polar sea seeing less and less Ice more polar bears will head south for food. I think this will cause them to dwindle in population as more and more are killed to protect mankind. The bears are adoptable to new means of food but I do not think man is very adoptable.
