Paintballing A Sport?

This was and still is a big debate for some of my friends... Do you think that people that paintball should be considered sports players?... or is it just another fun activity to get anger out.

Paintball is mostly a fun activity, I would not consider it a sport. There is very little skill involved, and mostly luck.

Paintball is just a hobbie, an activity but I cannot think of it as a Sport.

Sport Paintballing

I would consider Paintball a hobby as most people play it, but there are organized teams and organized tournements that could easily qualify as sports.

That statement is only true about one kind of paintball that I describe later.

All sports indeed have alot of luck. But if you think that Paintball does not take any skill at all then you have not played it very much at all. There are entire books on the tactics of Paintball. I myself am not a very good player because I have had little practice and that clearly shows there is more than luck involved in Paintball.
Paintball involves getting the right angles on someone and moving around alot. It takes skills to hit someone with a Paintball gun. It takes skills to manuver through the enemy fortress without being seen. It takes skills to bunker someone. It takes skills to defend your fortress against odds.

Your statement is true about a differant kind of paintball. A kind that I myself hate. Its called... I can't think of the name right now. >_> But anyways it involves people having the latest guns, called automatics which shoot 15 paintballs a second. For that type of paintball your statement is very true. I was just pointing out that there are other types of paintball.

I do airsoft myself, which I consider to be very similar to paintball. And I would say that both of those would probably qualify as hobbies.

Still I have to say that they both require a lot more skill than luck, sure luck is a part, but if it was all random luck, then everyone would one the average do about as well as each other. Which they don't.

I think even with rapid fire guns, my airsoft gun fires about 300 rds a minute, it requires a lot of skill. Skill which, unfortunately, I don't have.

Points well taken by both ShadowNinja and Ramsus. There is some skill involved, which I would attest more to practice than natural skill. I guess that was where I was going with that statement. Anyway, I still stick to the paintball being an activity and not a sport.

Paintballing is a sport, proof is that it is almost into the X-Games. Bowling is considered a sport, if i remember correctly, and all you do there is roll a ball down a lane.....Also, golf, all you do is hit a ball down a field. All can be done with no practice and have a chance of being accomplished.................
