No we did not come from neanderthals. We shared a common ancestor with them. But apparently interbred with them, so their DNA is in our genome. Not sure if that includes swimmers ear!
Neanderthal ancestry also in African populations. After sequencing the Neanderthal genome, scientists discovered all present day non-African individuals carry some Neanderthal ancestry in their DNA. Now, researchers present evidence of Neanderthal ancestry in African populations too, and its origin provides new insights into human history. Source 7i.
Just a question, current modern-day humans didn't come from the Neanderthals, but humans did imbreed with them, so are we semi-related?
I would argue we do come from Neanderthals in the sense that ancient humans had relationships and had children with Neanderthals. I say 'we' as in humans in the last 3,000 years or something like that.
