Introduction Fiannan

Hi Fiannan,
I am also new to these boards and have found a lot of the discussions to be both lively and interesting. I want to welcome you to the forum and hope you enjoy it here. There wasn't much in your introduction about the kinds of things you enjoy or what you hope to gain from this community. . Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies? Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome LDS Member

Thanks for posting your introduction message, this forum allows you to interact positively with many people on varying topics such as LDS Church news, Doctrine, the Book of Mormon, etc. However, do keep in mind that LDS Related Discussion is kept only in the LDS Related Boards as this is an International Community.

The next thing you should do now is update your profile. You can do this by clicking the link called, 'My Controls' in the top menu. You may wish to venture over to the LDS Deep Doctrine board or the News & RM Section and have a look around.

If you like RPGs then you may also be interested in playing: Nephi RPG where you can 'Journey to the Promised Land'

Here are some quick links for you to look over when you have time:

Maybe you are confused about how this place operates? Here are some tips:

1. This is an International Community, not LDS only.
2. Keep religion to the Religion based Boards and Science elsewhere.
3. Each Board has a Read Me Thread, make sure you read it BEFORE posting in a Board.
4. Lastly, and most importantly - read our Constructive Posting Policy as it saves a lot of embarrassment and Mods / Bots editing your posts continually.

If you are speaking of the ADHD post that I made reference to Brigham Young then I respectfully disagree with your view that it mixes religion and the topic.

First, Brigham Young DID have over 70 kids. I made reference to the fact in order to give his views credibility as a father with a diverse group of children -- which could probably pass the scrutiny of even the most secular, non-religious professor in any post-Christian European country.

Second, Brigham Young has credibility that extends far beyond that which is recognized by LDS people. He was the territorial governor of the Utah territory, was he not? That was not a religious calling. He was a colonizer who is mentioned in practically every textbook on US history that deals with the frontier. That gives him as much secular credibility as Hillary Klinton has as a politician with a particular ideology.

Third, the speech I made reference to never made reference to the Word of Wisdom -- it was in reference to mothers who thought that it was more important to have their kids quiet during a meeting than keeping their kids off narcotics.

Sometimes the lines between religion and politics or science or social issues can blurr. This may be one of those cases. However, I believe that the post was deleted before considering the above-mentioned facts but oh well...
