Is a Dance Instructor necessary in order to learn how to dance?

I do not think it is necessarily imperative to have a dance instructor, but I do think that it is more effective to have one. You can only learn so much from a video lesson or a lesson online because you do not have that human feedback telling you what you are doing incorrect. You can't really learn too much technique, either. I was always questioning my instructor on how to better do things.
