Humans are usually enthused by the main emphasis and do not look out for detail, such is with movies. Once they know the main actors there is no consideration for the rest of the cast and crew. The topic of discussion is this... after a movie is over, do you take the time to read the credits?
No. They usually go by too fast, are written too small, and the details aren't helpful.
However, I frequently wait until the credits are rolling since a lot of movies now have bloopers or other interesting bits showing during the credits (think A Bug's Life).
I pretty much do the same thing Nighthawk does; wait through the credits to see if there are any extras at the end. Unless it is a move I really like and there was a character who I recognize but can't place the name too; then I will pay attention to the cast of characters to try to find that actor's name. If movie producers really wanted people to read the credits, they would find ways to do so.
Offtopic but, What imaginative ways can movie producers get their viewers to read the credits? |
I believe is also a good opportunity for highlight for newbies actors, extras and producer assistants, they do almost anything from serving coffee to clean up in order to have their names in the credits, what we could least do is reading them
Usually not; except if a movie was filmed on location and I'm curious as to where they filmed it I will wait and look for that. We just saw the movie, Secret Window and I was curious as to what small town and lake the movie was filmed at, so we decided to wait but they turned the movie off just at the start of the credits, so maybe we'll never know.
