I was sitting here watching Rainbow Brite and thinking about all my favorite movies from when I was young. Rainbow Brite was definately one of them! I loved this movie, and I'd been wishing for years it would come out on DVD. The first time I saw it, I bought it.
What about you? What were your favorite movies when you were a child?
I didn't get out much to see movies as a kid, but I remember seeing Star Wars and loving it. This was my first introduction to any movie that was science fiction and I was in awe at the action, adventure, and special effects in it. I saw Annie on tv and liked that a lot; I love a good musical. I also remember being terrified and thrilled by seeing the Wizard of Oz on tv. There were so many beautiful, funny, and frightening scenes, it was a total experience for me.
I think I had two movies, when I was really young, that I would ask to watch over and over and over (or so I am told)- The Land Before Time (you know- that cute dinosaur movie with the beautiful song in the ending credits), and Disney's Cinderella (the animated version).
Not to say that I didn't watch other movies, but, as I understand it, those were my top 2. I think that most little children (especially today) have a few favorite movies that they always want to watch.
Ohhh, I loved all the old Godzilla movies! My brother and I would get up Saturday mornings and build things with our expansive Lego collection, and watch whatever matinee monster movie was on, but Godzilla was always the fave.
There are only 2 movies that clearly stick in my mind from when I was little, and they are Bedknobs and broomsticks, and The lady and the tramp.
Both I believe are the traditional good old Disney movies, it was a great treat to go to see these at the cinema, and I think that you could say that they are timeless movies that kids of today would still enjoy seeing!
