ART BUYER SEES RED OVER `HONG KONG HORROR' SCAM

Backpackers posing as struggling artists are peddling mass-produced Asian paintings around Wellington, claiming they were done by up-and-coming European painters.

I'm sorry, but if you buy a painting on the street thinking it's going to be a good investment, you're buying it for the wrong reason. Why not buy a painting because you love it? Speculation is poisoning the art world.
