What Do Contact Lenses Feel Like?
For someone who has never worn Contact lenses - what do they feel like when you wear them on your eyes?
I've tried contact lenses 3 times, each time a different type. The only way that I can describe how it felt for me personally, was that there was an irritation in my eye that sometimes you'd never know was there, and then it'd move, and it would feel very uncomfortable. (But not painful)
The only thing that I found significantly better was than wearing glasses was that you could see directly from the eye, instead of their being a gap from seeing where your glasses fit in front of your eye.
Maybe the new type disposable lenses are the way to go?
I wear contact lenses all the time. The first time you try them on, it may be difficult and feel uncomfortable. After wearing them for several times, you will not feel anything. I feel like my contact lenses are part of my eyes. There are also different types of contact lenses out in the market today. I do know that there are brands that have 'extra-sensitive' contact lenses for sensitive eyes.
Contact lenses alter eye bacteria, making it more skin-like
Contact lenses may alter the natural microbial community of the eyes, according to a study. In a study of 58 adults seeking outpatient eye care, researchers found that contact lenses make the eye microbiome more skin-like, with higher proportions of skin bacteria. Ref. Source 2m.
New insights into human tears could lead to more comfortable contact lenses
Chemical engineers have discovered mechanical properties of the tear film on the eye's surface that can be used to manufacture contact lenses that more closely mimic the eye. Ref. Source 7j.
Understanding the contact of contacts to beat dry eye syndrome
Symptoms of dry eye syndrome -- dry, red, itchy, gritty, sore eyes -- are more common among contact lens wearers. But relief may be on the horizon, thanks to a group of researchers and their work exploring the mechanical interactions between the eye surface, the cornea and contact lenses. Ref. Source 4e.
I wear contact lenses of a type made to be worn constantly for a few weeks (IE one doesn't take them out at night) and then discarded.
Frankly, I forget they're there. They feel like a natural part of my eyes, and on one particularly neglectful period I went for almost three months without replacing the things before my eyes finally started getting irritated.
