Is it me or some teens just have too much idle time on their hands? rolleyes.gif I hope they give him some type of punishment, what he did not only was cruel but waste police time and resources in that manner is just plain wrong.

PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - It was a cruel joke that caused a lot of trouble. A Tennessee teenager called the Missionary Training Center claiming he killed his mother. He admits now it was a prank, and is in a juvenile detention facility.

The cross-country call came from Clarksville, Tennessee and was answered here in Utah. "Hi, this is Jared. Thank you for calling for your free Book of Mormon from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

The 13-year-old on the other end immediately began with his lies. First, a fake name. "Okay, your first name? Issac." Then he lied about the reason he was calling. "I just wanted to talk to somebody and tell them that my mother died and I really need God in my life right now." Finally, the lie that landed him in trouble with the police. "I shot my mom."

Once the prank call ended someone at the Missionary Training Center called BYU police. Dispatch traced the teen's phone number and roughly where he was calling from and notified local police. It took Clarksville police nearly eight hours to find the boy and his mother, who is still alive. The boy told police it was a joke but they were not laughing. Sgt. Cheryl Anderson said, "There was a lot of resources used thinking we had a homicide...
