Recently. after a recommendation as a way to look for work / referrals from a certain online source I decided to look into IRC Chatting. Well, for me I see no difference between it and a Yahoo chat room full of teeny boppers. Yes it loads fast, yes, the network is big, but once you get there all the users are still attending Primary or Junior School? So, my purpose in starting this thread is for recommendations of reputable IRC Channels where a healthy conversation comparable with the level of this Community can be found. I want a specific channel, not a reference to use a Search system which I have already tried without much success. Thanks in advance.

I think that if you are looking for mature conversations, you may want to stay with news groups and mailing list. If you watch adult conversation, you have to go to adult chat rooms only, but then its all about sex. I have seen rare yahoo chat rooms that tend to be towards the mature, but not for extended periods of time. Even when it is adult, it tends to spiral into silliness rather quickly for some reason.
