UPDATE 2

Let us mess with the dead:

You put your shoulder to the statue and heave. It seems rooted to the spot. At last your titanic effort is rewarded as the statue topples, crashing down into a thicket. Lose 2 VIGOUR for your exertion in the sweltering heat. You have uncovered the stone lid of a sarcophagus in the dank earth beneath the fallen  statue.  Maggots  and  tiny  black  beetles squirm and scuttle for cover. Minki snatches up a beetle and savours it while you stoop to examine the sarcophagus.

You seize the carved handholds and open the lid.  At that instant,  a momentary breeze stirs the trees and makes you shiver. Minki runs back from the grave, chattering in fright. But there  is  nothing  to  fear'- only the  mouldering bones of a long-dead Anku noble.  The skeleton could be formed of polished jade, coated as it is with a lime green enamel which has preserved it through the centuries. It holds a gilded sceptre in one hand and wears a pectoral from which sparkling jewels hang like crystallized droplets. You can take either or both of these items; remember to note  them on your Character Sheet if you  do. Turning away from the rifled grave, you and Minki proceed deeper into the entangling jungle. Turn to 31.

After walking on for some minutes you arrive at a point where the trail forks sharply to the right. You squint up through the rustling trees to where the sun hangs blazing in the cobalt sky. Unfurling your map,  you  estimate  that  the  temple  lies  almost directly  ahead  of  you.  If  you  decide  to  head straight  for  your  goal  by  chopping  your  way through the thick foliage, turn to 80. If you decide to remain on the twisting path, turn to 74.

Take the sceptre and the pectoral? And, chop this time, or go by the twisting path again?
