Do We Have To Agree With God?

Do we have to agree with God to be saved?

Can we disagree with his decisions and still find salvation, or do we have to submit totally his direction and agree with him on all points (I am not talking about prophetic counsel, but counsel received from the Holy Spirit)?

God Agree To We Do

I am not sure what you mean? Please define decisions. Are you talking about disagreeing with his decisions like his decision to make grass green? Or more in lines of moral decisions?
I would think that all of our decisions that we make are based on his perspective or out of his decisions. All that we know is based on his decisions and of his preferences because all that we have is what he gave us. We know nothing outside of his decisions and preferences. Things exist because he prefers or allows then to exist. Thus everything we know is based on his preferences, even the things that we may feel we disagree with are created by his preferences. Even free agency ( I guess to some extent our choice to disagree) is given to us by his decision. So even the act of "disagreeing" is in a since something that he agrees with, and within the realm of what he given us or decided to give us. I feel that the Lord wants us to be happy even if we feel that we disagree with him by not choosing the celestial kingdom for example, we are agreeing with him in that we are going to receive a glory which we will be happy. So even in this since we are agreeing even though from our perspective we may feel that we are not.
So perhaps the question is when we feel that we disagree with God, are we really disagreeing with him or is it more of our just our perception of disagreement? I am not sure if this explains my thoughts real well.

This is an interesting topic--one I would not have ever thought myself.

The first thought I had was, you mentioned

Does not the Holy Spirit testify of God? I know that they are one in the sense of purpose so wouldn't this be the same thing as a prophet telling us?

The scripture passage in Moroni 7:12-14 came to mind--

It seems in my opinion that it if we are having thoughts or decisions against God's will, it would be of the devil. I think there may be a difference though, than someone not wanting to do God's will but still willing to do it.

God Agree To We Do

I suppose it is a question of Will. Can we disagree with the will of God and still progress and still draw closer to God if our opinions and will are not in line with God's will and opinions.

Lets ask both questions.

Can we disagree with God's opinions on the small stuff? Let's suppose God likes Mozart, Monet, or Lewis. Suppose we are lukewarm to these artists. It always says become more like God, so what is our responsibility on such a case.

On the other Hand, can we disagree on points of doctrine (baptism, ordinances, Gospel laws.) and still continue faithfully in the Church?

God Agree To We Do

I always thought that we had variety in all things because we are individual and unique. I don't really prefer classical music, but my brother loves it. I don't think this puts him closer to following God then myself. If it came to me listening to satanic music vs. classical then obviously that would show my preference. But I don't think because I listen to say, country vs. classical that it matters? Do you think it does?

It seems with gospel doctrines issues though, that it is not an option in my opinion. There is only one way to return back to Heavenly Father--His way, which includes all that you have mentioned above. I am interested to know if this is just something you were thinking about or if you (or someone you know) have a specific issue you are referring to?

No I don't, I just wanted peoples ideas on the subject. I am sure when we are commanded to Be like Christ, we do not have to have the same dislikes and likes as him.

I just though it was an interesting question.
I agree with you that there are certain eternal laws, that when they come to a knowledge of them, that we cannot just ignore them to progress.

Another thought I had, was as we progress slowly towards being as Christ, the spirit becomes so much more sensitive the closer we get. I think, my opinion of course , that the closer we get--the less things like that will matter. We will all probably be more tuned into and prefer hymns or something along that line. I just say that because when I was inactive for 5 years, the music I chose to listen to was loud and heavy--no way inviting to the spirit, as I have been back in the church for 15 years now, My music choices have slowly changed. I think it will be that way for most entertainment situations.

It is an interesting concept to think about--it helped me put into perspective what is Gods will and what was mine, and how far apart are they? Thanks!

Isnt kinda obvious that we would have to agree with the plan because it not just things to do but our hearts to? If we dont agree it will show in how we live our lives.
