Ritual Of Death

How come is this case being treated as "accidental" even though the autopsy determined the baby did not die of natural causes? It makes my blood boil at the idiocy and ignorance of some people. If you cannot handle sleepless nights with a newborn, why the heck do you have kids for? Sickening!

AN AUTOPSY carried out on the body of a six-week-old Antonio Cyrus by Dr Hughvon Des Vignes yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre revealed the child died as a result of positional asphyxia.

Penal police reported that at about 6 am on Monday, Vindra Cyrus awoke to find her son dead. In an interview on Monday at her Rampersad Trace, Clarke Road home, Cyrus said that having not slept well for two nights, she was very tired and retired to bed on Sunday and slept through the night.

According to reports, hours before the baby's death, a relative had performed a ritual aimed at stopping the child from continuously crying. Cyrus said, "He used to wake me up with his crying and I would get up to feed but he didn't cry at all for the night or else I would have heard him.

When I get up next morning I realise he was not breathing."

Investigators told Newsday yesterday that although the death has been ruled as unnatural, it is being treated as accidental.
