Baby In Hospital After 3 Storey Fall

What is wrong with these people? How in the world are you going to leave a toddler in the care of another kid who is also mentally retarded! My goodness, idiocy and irresponsibility to the max. Not surprised though, every day I see uncaring parents and guardians allowing their kids to be anywhere unsupervised. Oh, T&T.

Baby Shania is currently in a serious but stable condition at the Mt Hope hospital, sources said last night. Police believe that the eight-year-old boy, who they say is mentally challenged, pushed the toddler through the window of an apartment at the Plannings, George Street, Port of Spain.

Baby Shania fell 30 feet to the concrete surface below.

Eyewitness Denyse Cooper, 39, told the Express she heard a "big noise" at approximately 1 p.m.

When she ran downstairs she saw a naked female toddler on the ground.

A number of her teeth had been knocked out .

She said the eight-year-old boy was standing in the window crying and she went and took him to the George Street Health Centre, next to the Plannings.

Steve Silpa, 44, of Morvant, said he was visiting the Plannings with a lady friend when he heard residents screaming: "Oh God! Oh God! Look the child now fall."

He saw the baby lying on the ground with blood on the side of her face, and ran and picked her up.

He said baby Shania was stiff at first but moved her head and arm slightly....
