Comments: Why is the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold called that? I was thinking it would be named differently why "lovely"?

I only saw the movie and didn't read the book but I'm guessing that the girl was lovely, her spirit had so much love especially for her father than it enabled her to reach beyond the grave to communicate with him.

I read this novel a while ago, it's called "lovely" because of something Susie says at the end of the book about the new strength her family and loved ones have discovered after her death:
QUOTE These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections - sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent - that happened after I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it. The events my death brought were merely the bones of a body that would become whole at some unpredictable time in the future.
