Do Teens Have A Bad Image?

I think that teenagers have a bad image, especially in the minds of adults and in the media. They publicize the bad ones all across the news for the world to see.

What do you think?

Are you asking if teens in general have a bad image because of the criminally minded ones highlighted by the media? I believe we have a similar Thread here like that already, but I will entertain this one. Personally, when I hear or see a teen I think of the following words: smart, technologically inclined, enthusiastic, immature, insensitive and socializer. In other words, teens in general have an image of their own. If they commit a crime people will say it is just another teen being immature or a rebel as usual. If it is a heinous crime then they will say the child is born evil or being influenced by criminally minded adults. The gangs of today seem to be built on a carefree brutal attitude.

Do Teens Have A Bad Image? Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

I always think of teens as carefree people with a real zest for life. But I often think many see them as trouble makers and rule breakers. I think teen love of fun does end up with them pushing the envelopes that society expects of them. In general they do like the reaction they get from finding a new way of expressing themselves that "old folks" do not appreciate. None of this is a new attitude but has been this way for many generations. Just easier today and for the last few decades since the teens are no longer working as adults on farmers and looking after 10 siblings.

As far as underground activities I do believe they are more open in the acts and have less regard for the authorities...might be due to the lack of consequences, now who's fault is that?

Being recently a teen myself, I find teens to be emotional. The first thing that comes to mind is trouble. The second thing is, well..., sleeping.

Name: Samuel

Comments: If teens want respect they must be respectful. Don't bring drinking, sleeping around, harassing elderly or migrants, then they are good citizens.

Do Teens Have A Bad Image?

With the economy low and jobs hard to find it will do little for the image of our youth. Why because they will once again have too much free time on their hands and that creates boredom. In general a bad combination, I hope more youth take on finding and creating work for them selves through painting lawn maintenance or other such jobs.

As for us old folks we need to step up and be extra good mentors right now.

Do Teens Have Bad Image

I know that the teens at my church are always given very little trust, and that's saying something. I'm not sure what it is, whether it's a generational thing or what, but there is some sort of mistrust.

Maybe it's a problem with the age group: the age for separating from the parents is the teenage, so I think all teens react in ways that would distance themselves from their parents. I know I'll often try to stay out of the house for as long as possible if my parents are home.

Thankfully, most adults in my neighborhood trust me, but that's only because I'm normally part of church work groups.
