Same Gender Parenting

What is your view? Should / Can parents of the same sex truly provide an ideal environment in which to raise the child or will the child become confused with gender issues?

I dont agree with same sex couples and believe in the institution of mother/father families. However, that is not to say that same sex couples cannot provide for and raise children. Personally thought I dont agree with it.

Since I'm against same gender couples in the first place, to have them allowed to adopt and raise children I think is an abomination. I'm sure there are loving "couples" out there who can provide financially secure homes and even a loving environment; however, there is no escaping the fact of their sexual orientation. Exposing children to that is just wrong.

In my opinion, of course.

Even though I am not in agreement with same gender parenting , I do think they can provide a good environment to raise their children. I have seen it, that's why I know. Even though it may not be in all cases, when you read the news you realise that some heterosexual couples have not prove they can do a better job...MOST of the cases (if not all) of parents abusing the children and torturing them come from heterosexual couples. As I said before, I am not in agreement with same gender parenting but I have seen some of them being great , loving and concerned individuals who have gave their "all" towards their children.

I definately don't think same gender couples can provide an ideal environment for children to be raised, neither do single parent homes. So, I think they can provide adequate homes. I think they can provide nurturing homes. However, I do not think they can provide an ideal home.

I agree with Tena, that's why I said a "good' environment and not an "ideal" one. An ideal one in my opinion should be with a man and a woman but it does not make it *the only* factor...but love, concern and all the attributes that are necessary for parenthood.

But who's to say what is an "ideal environment"? aren't ideals are something that we as society invented? Maybe a few years from now, we will find out that those kids who were raisd by same sex perents did ectually get a better environment then those who were raisd by a hetrosexual couples?

What I am trying to say is that I beleive the society sets the "norms" and we all act acording to it without asking questions. I think that before we say wether same sax parents can provide an "ideal environment", we shuold understand what is an ideal environment and who set the ruls for it.

I think the person answering the question decides for themselves what they consider to be the ideal environment and then determines for themselves again whether or not they believe a same gender couple can provide an ideal environment.

You will note that I did not say they couldn't provide a good home. However, in my ideal, there must be two parents of differing gender. To me, this is the ideal. One reason is that I believe a role model of each gender should be provided. That is also why I said a single parent household wasn't ideal, in my view either.
