Recipe Ingredients Recipe detials:

1 c Brown sugar, packed

3/4 c Butter or margarine;

-softened 1/2 ts Vanilla extract

1/2 ts Maple extract

1 Egg

1 1/2 c All-purpose flour; or

-unbleached 3/4 ts Baking powder

3/4 ts Baking soda

1/4 ts Salt

1 c Dates; finely chopped

1/2 c Chopped nuts; walnuts or

-pecans Recipe by: Pillsbury, Cookies, Brownies & Bars, 1991 In a large bowl, beat the brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract, maple extract and egg; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Stir in the flour, baking powder,baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in the dates and nuts. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate for 30 minutes for easier handling. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or
