OK, here is the latest.

We went in Tuesday and saw the main doctor. We found out that the mass has not shrank in the past three months of treatment but it has not gotten any bigger either. This is both good and bad. The good news is it is not growing. The bad news is that the chemo treatment is no longer working on it to shrink it. To top that off is that one of her lymph nodes on the left side is swollen or enlarged. This could be a concern if the cancer has spread to the nymph node system. We are hoping it is just swollen from recent sicknesses that have passed through the family. That is what I am thinking.

Then if that is not enough news we found out yesterday that she has an acute bladder infection for all of this. This also can cause the lymph node to be larger too I think. We can not get treatment for the infection for 72 hours because the culture has to grow that long to determine what kind it is for sure to treat. SHe has thought she was getting an infection of the bladder since last month but the nurse when she would call just blew her off. Needless to say I am not the happiest right now.

We decided late last week to get away for a bit. We went down to Memphis Tennessee to enjoy the sights for a few days. We took the kids to see Graceland, Sun Studios, and the Memphis zoo. We ate at the hard rock cafe there and even ate at BB kings bbq. I have to say that from hearing from my family the food was wonderful. I felt it was a great time to get away for a bit and the kids had a great time. Watch my flickr account for the pictures. I took quite a few. smile.gif

Here is all the latest.

Well the doctors came back and told us she does not have a bladder infection. We went and say a Urologist doctor. They told us the stint has to be replaced. We are scheduling that with the University of Iowa hospitals to coincide with our appointment with the sarcoma specialists there. They said that every six months the stint needs to replaced until they do something about the growth.

The sarcoma specialist at the university of Iowa we met with the 20th of March. He is wanting to get her on his study. She will be assigned a number and then we will get a drug or a placebo. The drug has proven to stop the growth of the cancer in most patients. Wither she will part of the test group or the control group is a wait and see. We go back to see him once again after two months. We go to see him to see if we can get on this study on the 3rd of April. So it is looking to be a all day stay. I know she is sending a copy of all her record to this specialist so that she can help other cancer patients.

Today I have to take my wife to the hospital. The doctors are concerned that she may be developing a blood clot or blood clots in her legs. We need to get a MRI to see if this is the case so we can combat this before it gets any worse.

Well the good news is that she does not have any blood clots in her legs. After a MRI and Ultrasounds everything came up clear. Now we can go to Iowa City to the University Hospitals Friday with that information. I just hope the swelling in her legs goes down soon so she can get around a lot easier.

Here is the latest.

We did not get on the protocol. The doctor feels that the mass is now not cancerous in nature. He told us in the scans that he could see that the mass while small could or could not be nothing more than scar tissue now. He wants her to relax and do nothing for the next three months. After which we will go back and get a MRI and a CT scan then meet with him to see if anything has changed. IF it grows in the the next three months then we will be placed on the clinical trial as either a test or control subject. But since it seems to be dormant or non cancerous now he feels that it may stay that way. We were happy to hear this news. NOw we can relax and plan our sons graduation and graduation party.

Well the latest has been interesting for me. I have almost finished the remodel of my bathroom. All I am doing is replacing the floor and repainting the walls and cabinets. I did hang a shower curtain up as wall and window curtain. It has a fish theme on it and looks nice with the green and blue paint job. I have a few more touch ups and the painting will be done. I replaced my sump pump and sent it outside the house instead of the sewer like the old owner had done. I buried the pipe this past week when it was nice. Now I just have to finish the stone patio that is going to be on the west side of my front yard. I am happy to have gotten a lot of the work done. I did transplant a couple nice flowers to be in my upper planters instead of the lower planting area. I need to get a bear statue to place in the upper planter.

We made the trip to Iowa City yesterday so her doctor could look at her legs. She has had a lot of swelling and redness in her legs for the past few weeks. The doctor had her on mild steroid as a way to get the left over chemicals out of her system as he thought the swelling and redness was a result of these chemicals in her body. Well that did not seem to work. Now we are going to go to a dermatologist to eliminate other possible reasons for this. If we can eliminate the easy possibilities we can find out what is causing the redness and the swelling. We are hoping now it is something common like a allergic reaction.
