From common words

Humans name their children based on what is pleasing to them. Some names that are chosen are actually common words such as; Celestial. Journey, Bill, Victor, etc. These names have real meanings in the English language.. What common words have you heard that are names of people and would you use them for your own siblings if you could?

Faith, Hope, Charity, Honor

I really like all of these, and would seriously consider naming a daughter any of them.

A friend of mine named her daughter Honesty. I thought at the time it was an unusual name and one I would never have chosen, but as time went by it kind of grew on me. I have a friend named Aja (pronounced ah zhaa) now that isn't a common word but it is an unusual name.

I love the name Faith and Hope. They are beautiful. I heard the name Dulce (sweet) and Felicidad (Happiness).

I've known young ladies named Spring, Summer and Autumn, but not Winter (wonder why not?)

I knew a guy years ago whose legal first name was Wheeler. I doubted him when he told me, so he showed me both his driver's license and social security card as proof.

Then there's other names taken from nature: Robin, Rose, Flora, Colin, Heather and so forth.

During the last generation or so geographical places have been used for naming children: Montana, Dakota and Florida are the ones that come readily to the top of my mind.

The place names are so cool! Savannah, Jordan, Austin. Then there are the especially odd names.. Stone, Truck (Yes, Truck!), and Demi Moore named one of her girls Rumour -- something to do with a poem that is particulary touching.

I enjoy hearing the new generation of prophet names -- Isaiah, Brigham, Alma, Nephi, Levi. Good strong names for our young men!

The name Nathan is translatred from hebrew in the bible. In hebrew, it is pronounced Natan, and means gave. Jonathan is a variation of that, pronounced Yehonatan, meaning god gave. Matthew is pronounced Mateetyahoo, and means A gift from god.

A lot of names from the bible have deeper meaning. I'm not going to name all of them but you get the general drift...

I always wondered why more Month names don't exist - they just stopped at April, May and June - Can Jan fit in there too??? There are two people in my department named Joy and Rudolph i think that they are excellent Christmas names.

Anyway when i studied in England in the 80's I really thought that Imogen and Megan were cool girl names and Shane (from the old Western) would be an ideal Boy's name.

Actually let me stop babbling. My Dad was a big Dean Martin fan. Remember the old betamax Videos machines? He had like all of Dean Martin Movies recorded. Anyway I always told my people that i was Dean like in James Dean because i just thought he was cooler.

But I really appreciate now that I was named after my Dad's Movie Hero so i did the same with my kids. I named my son Jeremy after Jeremy Irons cause he's such a talented Actor and my daughter is Alyssa. Well I've had a crush on Alyssa Milano since who's the boss... She's absolutely gorgeous and now she's on Charmed and i love it... Modern day bewitched for me.
