Ted Turner Calls for Population Control, Wants Limit of Two Children Per Family

Atlanta, GA (LifeNews.com) -- Ted Turner, the eccentric pro-abortion billionaire and founder of CNN, wants more global population control. He believes the world's population is getting out of hand and that it will result in environmental problems -- and his solution is to ask people to voluntarily limit themselves to two children. His comments came during an interview with PBS's Charlie Rose that aired Tuesday. "We're too many people; that's why we have global warming," he said. "Too many people are using too much stuff." Turner suggested that "On a voluntary basis, everybody in the world's got to pledge to themselves that one or two children is it." Should the world not cave in to his demands, he worries global catastrophe will ensue. "Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals," said Turner. "Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state -- like Somalia or Sudan -- and living conditions will be intolerable."

Ted Turner: China a Good Example of Population Control, Despite Forced Abortions

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Billionaire broadcast magnate Ted Turner is causing guffaws from observers with his latest comment on family planning in China. He lauded the Asian nation for its population control program and said it was a good example even though it is rife with forced abortions and sterilizations. During an interview with the Diane Rehm Show gave China as a model for how to handle growing populations. "We do have the example of China, and they've done it without, uh, draconian, as far as I can see, draconian steps," he said. I can understand some of his thinking. We are at a place where the population of the world is soon going to be more than the earth can feed. We need to get a control on the population explosion or get off this rock so we have more area to feed the population.
