Aversion Therapy

What are your feelings about Aversion Therapy? Do you think that putting a desireous object together with a repulsive one is a good cure to overcome addictions / feelings / attitude?

NOTE: For those with LDS Mature Access there is also a Thread: Gay Aversion Therapy

Therapy Aversion

For what I read, it may work in some cases and it may not work in others. I think it all depends on the individual, nevertheless this procedure is very old and I do not think is good, it looks more like a brainwashing therapy than an aversion one.

I can't say that I think this would 100% work, it seems a bit outdated and slightly cruel. Having said that, I'm sure you're going to have a few people who have tried it and think that it's great.
I guess if you're that desperate for a result it may be worth giving it a go!

You can't expect people to change just because you think they should no matter how much therapy you give them. For a gay person being gay is as part of their nature as eating food. Can you give them therapy to stop eating? Same thing.
