Sentencing delayed for Vernal man who kicked son, 7, in the face
A judge temporarily postponed sentencing for a Vernal man who kicked his 7-year-old son in the face, causing bleeding inside the boy's skull, because the man said Tuesday he was in too much physical pain to follow what was happening in court. Ref. Source 9e

A Vernal man who inflicted a life-threatening head injury on his 7-year-old son when he kicked the boy in the face has received the maximum sentences available for the charges to which he pleaded guilty. Ref. Source 3k

No child should have to go through that kind of insult from their own dad. Could it be that the father has some pain and anger management issues? He will have a long time to rehabilitate although prison isn't the best place for that.

When I read cases like this, my blood literally BOILS. What kind of BEAST can inflict such pain to their own flesh and blood?
QUOTE A little girl is in serious condition at Primary Children's Medical Center. Her mother and mother's boyfriend are in jail. Thirty-year-old Amy Roberts and 29-year-old Derrick Crispin are in jail, facing felony child abuse charges.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies say it's one of the most disturbing cases of child abuse they've ever seen. They say it all started at St. Marks Hospital about 1:00 this morning when Roberts brought her daughter in. "Both the hospital personnel and a deputy sheriff working at the hospital recognized those injuries immediately," explained Lt. Paul Jaroscak, spokesman for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.
According to the probable cause statement, the girl's front top teeth were missing and her eyes were swollen shut. "She has numerous cuts and what appears to be burn marks on her hands, both hands," Jaroscak said.
Her face and back were also covered in bruises. "These are probably in the top five of any injuries I have ever seen on a child. I've seen the pictures. It will be a while before I can get those out of my mind," Jaroscak said.
The child was rushed to Primary Children's Medical Center as Roberts was questioned. She changed her story at least five times as to how the injuries occurred. "It's our belief she went to some lengths to try and cover up the injuries or hinder the investigation," Jaroscak said... Source 5i

Children found being transported in U-Haul

How sad! Specially for the 2 year old child. I hope things are sort out and these children can receive the help they need along with a caring family that can see about them.
QUOTE WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A woman is behind bars in Washington County after officers found a 2-year-old girl in the back of her U-Haul.
According to The Spectrum, a Hurricane police officer was filling up his car with gas Sunday when he noticed Dorothy Rose Silva-Sauser wandering around the gas station acting strangely.
He called for back-up. The other officer asked Silva-Sauser to open the back of the U-Haul she was driving. Inside they found not only the 2-year-old, but a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old male.
The 16-year-old was taken to the Dixie Area Detention Center where officers discovered she had a baggie of suspected marijuana hidden inside her clothing. She also had a purse with her in the U-Haul that contained cigarettes, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance. She was charged accordingly... Source 2a
