Trinidad & Tobago's Crime Problem - Page 3

The main thing that needs to be addressed is our borders. Taking one or two guns off the street will do nothing. Immigration policies need to be tough, it is too easy to get here and stay and work while doing illegal things!

Title: Crime in T&T

Comments: With the alleged revelation by Jack Warner of drugs being found at the residence of the Prime Minister and removed by Warner, assisted by a senior police officer and others of status, then covering up the incident reflects how corrupt our nation is. What else can I say without being dishonest. What on earth are young people in this country going to think about those in authority. The worse thing of all is corrupt people of status are now queuing up and projecting themselves as suitable candidates for the next election. Looks like we are going to end up again with another bunch of crooks who manages the police for their benefit and are aided an abetted by a corrupt justice system who just standby turning a blind eye and condoning criminal corruption by the elite.

Has there ever been a time when corruption was not the common factor among politicians and businesses in this country? It seems like it has always been a case of favors and underhandedness to get past the next guy.

Title: Murder rate in T&T

Comments: Looking back at my comment made on the prediction of the murder rate for this year it would now appear that I spoke too soon .It now seems in view of the latest reported murders that we will again end the year with around the 400 mark the same as last year. What a shame.

Crime will not change no matter which government come into power. The need to better secure the border. The police need to be out there too on the oceans and not rely on coast guard.

As the police commissioner recently said if you take out guns from the street and other agencies (Immigration, customs, coast guard, etc.) are allowed to let guns in then the crime problem will never be solved.
