8 Year Old Abducts 6 Year Old Girl

8 Year Old Abducts 6 Year Old Girl

What is this country coming to? It is coming to the point that children commit serious crimes. Just imagine an 8 year old girl abducts a 6 year old and beats her with a stick. Now get this, when the parent investigated she found that the 8 year old is accustomed to beating up other students and YET STILL she is allowed in the school system. Why does the extreme have to happen before Trinis take ANYTHING seriously?

The 8 years old is obviously a victim of domestic violence or maybe has some sort of mental problem, in any case I cannot understand how can she be allowed to be in the system. I said it before and I'll say it again, as a teacher I have seen the aggressiveness in the children's eyes. Very scary.

I have felt that chill before looking into a childs eyes who is angry or full of hatred. And your right, it is a very scary thing.

Did she do this during school hours? Was she arrested or put in a child home for criminal children? Will there be anything that happens from this?

Yes, it happened during school hours I believe or as they were leaving school (to show the lack of security at schools, anyone can take a child out).

What will happen next? Absolutely nothing.

QUOTE
A five-year-old girl was led from the gates of her school by an eight-year-old schoolmate, who took her by the hand and carried her a mile away into the forest where she was beaten black and blue.

The infant was found almost two hours later during a search involving the school's principal, teachers and her parents.

At the Oropouche Police Station, investigators questioned the eight-year-old.

She said she had beaten little Mikeda Mitchell with a piece of wood but shrugged when asked why.

Mikeda's arms, legs and buttocks were covered in welts, and she was taken to a doctor to ensure there was no internal injury.

Her parents, Elicia and Fitzroy Mitchell, want action to be taken by the police.

But investigators said they could do nothing.

An eight-year-old cannot be charged with a criminal offence, and the most the police could do was to ask that the school assign a counsellor to help the child with anger management. Statements were taken from both victim and attacker.

Elicia Mitchell said she would not accept this.

"This girl brutalised my girl. My child could have been dead in the bush. I would have been burying her. So what would the police do then?" she asked. The beaten girl lives at Sobo Extension, Rousillac, and attends the Rousillac Presbyterian Primary School.

Police said she was dropped off by the school bus, but instead was led to the Main Road, and into a teak plantation...

Girl Year Abducts Year

This little girl who is only 8 years old has been a victim for so long she is now to the point of taking out on others. SHe needs some real care and someone who will not beat her and show her how little girls are supposed to act.

I feel sorry that a 5 year old had to get hurt but I also see that the police have their hands tied in a way. How can they punish a 8 year old who still is too young to understand all that she has done?

Looking into the eyes of a frightened or angered child can be traumatic. I would look at any child whether angry or scared and try to help them understand that there are people out in the world who want them to have a carefree childhood. One that is free of abuse.

I do understand that this child may or may not know what they are doing BUT they shouldn't be let loose in school to "hope" they don't take it out on anyone else. Is there not a "mental health" place where she should be taken to learn what abuse does and how it is not right?

Again this raises questions about the infrastructure of Trinidad. Is there no Social Services? The police said they can do nothing about an 8 year old offender. What, no Juvenile Detention? A ten year old boy threw a rock and almost killed my 8 year old brother. That ten year old did "hard time" in a Juvenile Mental Detainment Center. My brother ended up there a few times himself. Why does the law in Trinidad not have rules and facilities to rehabilitate these small children? Obviously her parents are useless. If this happened in America her entire family would be under scrutiny of Child Protective Services. As for school ... in America that child would be in a class for "problem" children and not allowed to leave the classroom until all the other kids were gone!

My prayers will be with all the people of Trinidad and Tabago. Obvioulsy your government is failing you.

8 Year Abducts 6 Year Girl Trinidad & Tobago / Caribbean

An eight year old child beating a six year old child is a cry for help. I've said it many times discussing with teachers and parents, children are not naturally bad. They get like that because of their social environment. The school has complained in the past that the eight year old has beaten up other students before. As a teacher in the primary school system for close to sixteen years, I have seen the education system gone from bad to worse to unbelievable. When corporal punishment was 're-abolished' a teacher at the school I was teaching at remarked that Trinidad shouldn't build more schools they should build bigger and more jails. I cannot explain in words the anger I felt when that teacher said that. I am sorry to say that I have to 'eat my words'. Back to the point of the eight year old girl. I am sorry for her, I really am. I am not saying that the five year old doesn't get my pity but the eight year old is crying for love and she is obviously not getting it. A child who is loved and cared for doesn't behave this way. That is my answer to that problem. Let the psychologists and socialists people tell me otherwise. Looking forward to further discussions on the matter.
