What Do Mormons Believe?
Can someone tell me in just a couple of lines what Mormons believe and what aspect of it is considered the most controversial?

I know this is more then you asked, but it is hard to express a belief in a few lines.
I believe some of the controversy is our belief in modern day prophets and apostles, that the church receives revelation today, a belief that God the Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are separate beings, and that Mankind can, if he

This, we believe means, we may have all that God has and as his son (or daughter) we can inherit his attributes, live with him, and know what he knows.

What is the primitive church? Is your church considered sophisticated or advanced?

Primitive as defined as original or first. This is not a pejorative, but rather an admission that we believe that it is necessary to follow the Original Church in doctrines and beliefs.
We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is if fact the restored primitive Church.

I can understand that but I do not remember primitive being used this way in modern English especially to describe someone's beliefs.
That literal gathering is the formation of Israel in 1947?

We believe that the formation of Israel was a major part of it. The Church also holds that Missionary work and the teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the ordinance of baptism are aspects of the Gathering of Israel (believing That Christians are the Seed of Abraham literally and through adoption.)

What do you mean by adoption? Do you have members or missionaries in Israel too?

All who join the church who do not have a direct lineage to Abraham are brought into the house of Israel by "adoption" as Paul taught.
Currently missionary work and proselyting in Israel is prohibited to all religions, but there is a BYU Collage University in Jerusalem.
