Researchers examined wave and sea level data around historic flood events and found that multiple factors contribute to flooding in the Indian Ocean island chain, which has an average land elevation of just one meter. Well, when you live in a low laying island chain at a time in the Earth's history when sea levels are rising then you should expect coastal flooding. I mean, that seems pretty obvious to me. But by all means, we should spend money to study this.
