Do You Rather Be A DM Or A Player?

Which do you gravitate more to… being a Dungeon Master or a player in a Role-playing Game?

Player Or DM Be You Do

I love being both, and frankly I have a hard time naming one better than the other.

Do You Rather Be A DM Or A Player? Reviews RPG & Card Board

I like being a Dungeon Master as it is fun and watching other characters grow as you throw things at them is nice. I like to cause some issues with characters and help them get a interesting story when retelling of their life. There is always a easy path in my games but most do not take it as the more interesting paths are always the fun ones. Besides where would the fun be in easy.

I do like to play as a PC too as it helps me learn more about this character class and that character class. I enjoy watching my characters grow and if they survive so be it.

Player Or DM Be You Do

A player, who wants all that work of coming up with a campaign, tracking characters, rolls and silly questions when all you have to do is show up with your character actions *wink*.

I like both but I prefer being the Dungeon Master, because of the challenge and because it's fun to see people experiencing the amazing world you've prepared for them. In live sessions being the Dungeon Master takes a lot of thinking on the fly and adapting to whatever happens, which I find especially challenging. It's good fun though - you just have to do your best and you definitely learn from the experience!

I have never been a Dungeon Master so I cannot make an honest opinion about it but from what I've seen I am better suited as a player. I do not enjoy looking up stats or getting into the politically correct aspects of roles so that alone will not make me a good Dungeon Master.
