No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.Â
This fifth amendment of the bill of rights covers quite a bit of our rights in one paragraph. Here the rights to a grand jury indictment for well known crimes, the double jeopardy laws, and the right to not incriminate himself are defined. In to boot are the laws that support eminent domain. This would be one of constitutional laws that I think should be changed. Eminent domain is legalized theft in my opinion because the government rarely gives you fair market value that you would get if you sold it yourself.

I really am surprised that this one hasn't been discussed more. This amendment is the reason that we have Eminent Domain. Now, the flaw in this amendment comes that it is an open ended path for the government to take your property. They government as well gets to decide what is just compensation, not you or anyone else. How is that fair to its citizens?

That is one interesting video. I agree with it totally. I have interviewed many people and have got them to confess. I agree totally if the police come to talk to you about something that has happened do not talk to them. I talk to officers all the time in my job. Our favorite thing to talk about is the latest person they got to confess about this or that crime and how stupid criminals really are. We also talk about people in general and how easy it is to get them to admit they did something wrong.
