Basketball is so popular that it could be the national sport here (We have sepak takraw as national sport but I bet not more than 5 out of ten knows the sport).
Everyone learns to play basketball at an early age as you would see a lot of make shift courts out literally in the streets. I remember playing when I was a kid and the game usually pauses to allow vehicles to pass through. We also usually play wearing slippers or even bare foot (Street basketball).
We have a national league nd a professional league. My favorite team is Baranggay Ginebra. When that team plays in the finals, expect it to be sold out immediately.
