Well, for my money, the best mouse trap is the old spring loaded one where you bait it with whatever and they come and trip the spring. Cleanup is a relative breeze and they are CHEAP!
However...
If you are more adventurous, you could try what this lady did:

Woman tries to kill mice, shoots self A Potter Valley woman wounded herself and a man July 3 while attempting to kill mice with a .44-caliber Magnum revolver, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office. The woman, 43, had drawn the gun from a holster under her left arm, intending to shoot mice scurrying across the floor of a small travel trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley, according to the Sheriff's Office. The revolver instead slipped from her hand and fired as it struck the floor, according to the Sheriff's Office. The bullet went through the woman's right kneecap, then hit keys hanging on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer, officials said. The bullet glanced off the keys and tore a hole in the man's pants. The bullet grazed the man's groin before stopping in his coin pocket, where it was recovered for evidence, according to the Sheriff's Office. The names of the shooting victims were not released. -- Glenda Anderson |

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, Mickey? |

I still think there is something missing like drugs were found or drinking was involved. |
I thing given that she was in a trailer her man had a huge key ring on his belt, might be indicators that this is just another day in their lives. Difference she dropped the gun this time. Drugs or alcohol might have been a contributor but I think just a lack of brains was a bigger one.
As for the holstered gun she might have a permit to carry one or just does it. I seen no mention of possession of an illegal fire arm so she might have the permit.
White couple in trailer with a hand gun shooting mice...Ironic ain't it. I ponder if they have a nice shack up in the hills to boot.
Just another case of dumb and dumber, glad no serious harm was done.
FYI I have a back and white mouse catcher under my front porch (I do not even have to feed it.) and it works great along with my indoor cat.
I know having a friendly skunk is nice to have for the outside. I think the neighbors dog will never learn. I had a skink sitting next to me as I went fishing for a week. He would come and sniff some of the fish I did not want. I never had a problem with him or the raccoon at night. It was nice to be with nature and blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb.
Yes skunks make some great rodent controllers.
