If you could hear sounds in space, it would have been a big bang. NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft slammed into a comet early Monday with such force that the resulting blast of icy debris stunned scientists with its size and brightness.

I guess I'm still shocked that they actually hit the thing. Nothing like this has ever been done before, so they had to get their calculations down right the first time. If everything goes well with the flyby space craft, then it wont be to long before we know allot more about comets and the solar system we live in.

I really meant to go out and see the explosion, it was supposed to be spectacular to see. But I had to work and no one had a telescope they wanted to bring into work so we could see it. My parents told me that it was very bright and very unique to see.
