Orlando police: Shooting at gay nightclub results in 'mass casualty situation'

The gunman has been identified as Omar Saddiqui Mateen but there is no conclusion yet on the motive. With a name like Omar Saddiqui Mateen everyone will be taking this as a terrorist attack and the fact that it was a gay hangout will add to the likelihood of it being targeted.

The number of people dead has now gone up to 50. Its a sad day in America, one of the worst in history besides 911 and Pearl Harbor.

CNN's Breakdown of the Events:

At least 50 people are dead, police say, and 53 people were injured at the Pulse club in Orlando.
The shooter was Omar Saddiqui Mateen of Fort Pierce, Florida, law enforcement officials tell CNN. He was shot and killed by police at the nightclub.
Mateen called 911 at the time of the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS, a U.S. Official tells CNN, and mentioned the Boston bombers in the call. He had been investigated by the FBI in the past for possible ties to Islamic extremism, officials say, but there was no evidence to charge him with anything. ISIS sympathizers have praised the attack on jihadi forums.
The shooting began around 2 a.m. The gunman ran into the club and took hostages. Around 5 a.m. Authorities used an armored vehicle to break down the door of the building and end the attack.
"It appears he was organized and well-prepared," Orlando Police Chief John Mina says. The shooter had an assault-type weapon, a handgun and "Some type of (Other) device on him."
Local and federal bomb squad personnel are currently entering Mateen's Fort Pierce apartment, law enforcement officials say.
Mayor Buddy Dyer has declared a state of emergency for Orlando, and Florida Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency for Orange County. Ref. CNN.

Things like this is why men like Donald Trump are gaining so much ground. They want the Islamists out of America, I do too but I don't stereotype all Muslims or all Arabs because of this but most here don't want to bother with the difference. Florida is all messed up at the moment.

Omar Saddiqui Mateen and many like him are suspects inside America. No legal proof is what enables them to get away with things like this. Someone somewhere must have known what he was thinking and doing, where is the interception!?

We can't allow anyone who says they are connected to terrorism to be taken for granted. Once reported the police, FBI or whomever needs to be on their case like no tomorrow so they don't have a chance to do anything like this ever again. Mass killings like this will inspire other radicals to do it.
