Pistol vs Rifle

If you could have only one gun with you for any general situation will you prefer a pistol or a rifle?

Rifle Pistol

Pistol would be my choice. It is easy to hide so you do not have people worried if they see you carrying a rifle. You can use it easier in close quarters and in tight spaces. Something that you can not do easily with a rifle. The only draw back I can see is you do not have the superior range that a rifle has.
