In Memory of Encarnacion

LDS_forever's grandmother (Mom) passed away and I thought I would set up this Thread for all of you to send your sympathies at this time. It is also a good place for LDS_forever to share her feelings about the woman who was not only her Grandmother, but also raised her as her mother.

Those of you who have accessed our Blogs and know about our trip to Argentina will understand the magnitude of this Thread.

Please feel free to share any words you wish.

Oh, my dear Soli! I know that this must be heartbreaking for you, and my own heart aches in sympathy. From your time not long ago spent with your grandmother, part of the grieving is relief at knowing that at least she is now free from pain, free from the confusion that tormented her, and she now rests in the hands of God.

May she rest in peace, and may your heart be comforted by a loving Heavenly Father who knows your suffering.

Our prayers are with you and your family, my friend.

Love,
Roz & Julia

In Memory of Encarnacion Sharing Member & Introductions

Thanks for the thread JB and thanks for the sympathies Roz. I really appreciated in such difficult time for me.

Since this thread is also to share some of my feelings, let me say that she passed away 8 days before turning 83 years old. I know that when most people pass away, usually people talk about how good the person was, etc but she was indeed an example of service and giving. I never met anyone who would give of her own substance to others in the way she did EVEN if that would mean she would not have anything to eat for herself...she would give first. I saw this since I was a little girl...Service was NOT taught to me but I learned through her wonderful and inspiring example.

A member of my Church wrote me an e-mail with the following:

QUOTE
Your grandmother was always very good to us and life wasn't enough to repay her kindness. Do you remember when she used to send the sausages and the pork meat?  For her, it was a daily...ordinary act, for us was the answer of many of our prayers in difficult times.

Only sensitive Spirits hear the voice of the Lord and my 5 children always knew that many times the Lord answered our prayers through her.

This is exactly how everyone remembered her...

Surely We are God's and to God is our return.

Condolences for your loss. May God The Compassionate rest her soul.

I lost all of my Grandparents a couple of years ago. My biggest regret is that I never showed them the respect and love they deserved. A regret that haunts me to this day. Once you realise how important they were it always seems too late.

Death is a powerful reminder to Humans as to where we are headed. As they say "Know that you are dust and to dust you will return".

There is a beautiful supplication regarding death I just wanted to post it here since I found it very comforting:

QUOTE
O God,
Bless Muhammad and his Household,
spare us drawn out expectations
and cut them short in us through sincerity of works,
that we may not hope expectantly for
completing an hour after an hour,
closing a day after a day,
joining a breath to a breath,
or overtaking a step with a step!

Keep us safe from the delusions of expectations,
make us secure from their evils,
set up death before us in display.
and let not our remembering of it come and go!

Appoint for us from among the righteous works a work
through which we will feel the homecoming to Thee as slow
and crave a quick joining with Thee,
so that death may be
our intimate abode with which we are intimate,
our familiar place toward which we yearn,
and our next of kin whose coming we love!

When Thou bringest it to us
and sendest it down upon us,
make us happy with it as a visitor,
comfort us with its arrival,
make us not wretched through entertaining it,
degrade us not through its visit,
and appoint it one of the gates to Thy forgiveness
and the keys to Thy mercy!

Make us die
guided, not astray,
obedient, not averse,
repentant, not disobedient or persisting,
O He who guarantees the repayment of the good-doers
and seeks to set right the work of the corrupt!

Karbala, thank you sincerely for your condolences and those inspiring words. She was my biological grandmother but my real mother since she was the only mother I ever knew. She raised me since I was only one year old after my birth mom passed away.

I am sure your grandparents know of your love for them and the regrets you have...you will surely be able to meet them once again one day and tell them all the things you was not able to face to face.

Thanks again.

LDS_Forever I know no words that can truly express the feeling we get when a dear one passes. Be assured my family are lifting up up during this time and I am sure the lord will place peace on your heart to soften the ache. I lost my grandparent many years ago but even still know I recall their gentle words and kind heart and wish ever so my own could have met them just once.

I am sure my grandma Reid and you grandmother now sit playing with all the little ones that have passed on playing games and telling stories.

Take the time you need grieve and heal and know we are all here to support you.

Thank you so much Krakyn for those words. As time passes, my feelings change as well. Right now I am just feeling down, trying to lift myself up by reading some Scriptures or singing a favorite Hymn.

I appreciate your kindness.

Your Grandmother seemed like she was a wonderful person. There are not very many people like that. I truly believe that there are special people in this world like your Grandmother who are sent by God to this world to help others just like Angels. I know you will really miss her. My sympathy goes out to you, although you already know that she's home again. May she rest in peace.
