Brain scans show building blocks activate spatial ability in children better than board games

Research has found that structured block-building games improve spatial abilities in children to a greater degree than board games. Ref. Source 7l.

It requires more imagination to build with blocks than to follow the rules of someone that already imagined the game for you. With that said it really depends on the board game I don't want to put all as the same or not being as good as building blocks.
