Lia consoles poor Perry after his failed attempt. She rubs his head for a moment to help him feel better." It's ok Perry. We had to find out one way or another."
Lia listens to the others and laughs. "I'm confident Perry and Lawrance can chart a part through here for us." She notices Velon seems a little vexed. Looking at him she utters, "If a phantom steed or hut can solve this problem then we have nothing to worry about." She giggles and takes up her bow. Lia asks Sune to help them acquire the knowledge to pass through the maze.
Mari smirks as she hears the group planning what to do. She holds her twin blades ready and keeps looking both behind and ahead of them for any sign of trouble.
Out of Character: : She cast guidance to help them unravel this mysterie. She will cast it each time they try to learn something. Each skill check will get a D4 bonus added to it from guidance.

Spells within the maze seem to work just fine. Gamliel reappears above the maze as intended, but the familiar reports that it cannot see either the party or the stone plinth they're examining, just an empty maze.
Perry and Lawrance examine the Plinth and the gems within. Based on what they can tell, it appears to be… entirely ordinary. No magic, no mechanisms. The glass gems can probably be removed, but it will take some careful work to avoid breaking them.
Out of Character: yes if you guys chased them down, you finished off the fleeing soldiers.

Reporting back on his familiar's findings, Lawrance resummons his into the maze again and puts him on the ground. %Go and scout as unobtrusively as possible, will you? Just stay within chatting range, so you don't get lost or 'lost', hmm?%
* So the maze we see from above is not the maze we are inside. So much for that way of solving the puzzle. If the gems aren't important, then we are left with regular right hand wall maze-solving. I wonder what surprises our friend in the Roc-tower has put in here?*
Specific Action: Send Gamliel as a sneaking scout ahead a bit. Record the design of the plinth and the order of the gems in a sketch book. Keep a few Robe of Eyes watching for unusual walls, etc.

A sketch of the plinth and the glass gems is quickly taken.
Gamliel heads forward, he reports coming upon a clearing with multiple exits and a fountain within. He is just describing things in additional detail when there is a flash of alarm and the kind of broken connection the wizard associates with a destroyed familiar.
Sighing, Lawrance reports to the group what just happened. * I can get him back, but it takes a bit to do. I guess we can expect trouble shortly ahead. Probably of a bipedal nature.*
Out of Character: - this 'flash of alarm' pass anything along as to cause being a trap or a person?
Cratol will move forward to the front ready to chase someone down if needed. He looks to Velon. "If this is a mage that silence stone could come in handy if I can grab them and keep them from casting a spell. Same as someone who may sound a horn as a warning. Silence could help us."
