Flying Internationally With Kids

Each year, a large number of American families make the decision to take a family vacation. Is your family planning on becoming one of those families? If so, do you know where you want to go? Although there is a good chance that you may want to stay in the United States, there is also a chance that you would like to travel to a foreign country. Not only could it be a fun and exciting vacation, but it could also be a learning experience for your kids.

Flying Internationally With Kids Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

These family examples are all well and good for those that have the option to travel full time, but the vast majority of us do not have the option to take months off work. For most typical families, a vacation is merely a temporary break from the rigors of life and usually consists of some special target destination for two or three weeks - not world travelling for months on end. Not to mention the whole home schooling requirement that takes away from the time spent enjoying the places you visit.
As a family of six, we enjoy the breaks from regular, mundane life to see special places and events, and this is far more likely to occur when you plan and budget your life ahead of time. There are many holidays we've taken as a family that meant far more to our kids, usually involving a special occasion. Our boy's Bar Mitzvah, our daughter's Bat Mitzvah, graduations, or even just the chance to visit somewhere we've never been. Travelling with children has always been part of our lives, and the arrangements we need to make to have this happen are relatively minor. We always prefer to travel when the kids are old enough to remember the time, so our youngest (4) is now at the point when this matters. Our next planned trip is another cruise, probably to Alaska for 14 days, and when planned right is really quite economical. Living in Vancouver, there are plenty of cruises that depart in the summer, yet they start out pricey. Typical cruise prices run about $1100 or more per person, and children are full price over 5. With deals timing and other sales, we are able to get the same cruise for a total around $2000 for all six of us, when we travel with another family or relatives.
Another time we cruised the Caribbean and all six of us went for 12 days for under $2400 total. In fact the airfare to get to Florida was 30% more expensive than the cruise itself!
Travelling with children is immensely fun, since you get to see the enthusiasm and world through their enjoyment, which enhances the experience for the parents, as well. It's not always roses and sunshine, however, as not all the kids will enjoy everything that they encounter, but the vast majority of it will be amazingly fun!
