Future Terra II Text RPG General Discussion - Page 5

I’d be very interested to see how this pans out.

A thought would be that it would be nice if character progression could be had without increasingly dangerous conflicts.

In many games, despite there being a broad range of skills (Many of which come into play later) many of the quests involve fighting tougher and harder enemies thus making it essential to ignore more character building stuff in favour of advanced combat prowess.

I’d suggest that this was even more relevant in a system similar to Traveller where you could build a great scientist or diplomat but ‘in game’ have very little opportunity to develop skills above and beyond those that you selected in the beginning.

Discussion General RPG Text II Terra Future

I haven't played Traveller in years but you can die while making a character in Traveller unless you muster out first so if you are using that system as an example it means you want that added too? It sounds like you don't. I have not tried this ROK II, I will have to give it a shot when I get a chance.

Yes, FT2 will have a faster Character creation build than ROK II similar to Traveller. FT2 will be more about creating a Character and then getting into a game as fast as possible. It will be less about visiting NPCs and getting to know a 'town' although if I were really to gain the needed funding I would develop things that will allow for play as a solo player as well.
