Farming: Wasilla, Alaska
Is Wasilla, Alaska a good place for farming or are there better places in Alaska?
Wasilla is in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, which is the best farming in Alaska. However, Wasilla is not the prime farming land. Palmer is better known for abundant farms and giant vegetables. There is also good farm land to be had for a good price out at Point Mackenzie, though that may soon change with talk of a ferry or bridge across the inlet to Anchorage. This would make Pt. Mackenzie more accessible and an attractive place for Anchorage commuters.
Wasilla is more residential and retail properties rather than farms.
The growing season in Alaska is short, usually Memorial to Labor day. But with the long summer days of nearly 24 hours of sunlight crops do very well.
