Emissions from most diesel cars in Europe greatly exceed laboratory testing levels. A new study reports that Volkswagen is not the only auto manufacturer to make diesel cars that produce vastly more emissions on the road than in laboratory tests. The study finds that in Europe, 10 major auto manufacturers produced diesel cars, sold between 2000 and 2015, that generate up to 16 times more emissions on the road than in regulatory tests. I have always felt that diesel engines needed to be kept to large transport vehicles only and with more apparatus to filter the fumes. Cars should not be running on diesel at all!
Diesel exhaust filtered of its tiny particles may worsen allergy-induced lung impairment. Air pollution from diesel engines may worsen allergy-induced lung impairment more when tiny particles are filtered from the exhaust than when they are not, according to new research published online in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
