What do you think? Is the restaurant owner right in displaying his picture with Chelsea Clinton on his restaurant? Let me add that he also has pictures with other famous people that are also displayed.
What caused Pres. Clinton to ask his lawyer to contact this guy and ask the pic to be removed or face legal actions?
QUOTE (CBS/AP) The days may be numbered for a photo of Chelsea Clinton posing with the owner of a popular Italian restaurant. That's because Chelsea's dad has weighed in.
Former President Bill Clinton sent a letter to Osso Buco proprietor Nino Selimaj, demanding that he take down the picture from the walls of his Greenwich Village restaurant.
"I was surprised to get the letter because the picture has been there a few years," Selimaj told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "She's eaten here a few times."
The Sept. 18 letter from the office of William Jefferson Clinton says Chelsea is a private citizen and that although she may have eaten at the restaurant "This does not serve as an endorsement."
The letter, signed by Clinton counselor Douglas J. Band, says Chelsea "Was not consulted prior to this picture being displayed, and thus, her permission was not given for you to do so."
"We reserve the right to exercise any and all options available to us if you refuse to comply," The letter says.
Selimaj notes that celebrity photos in New York restaurants are common: He also has pictures on his walls of him posing with former mayor and GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani and New York Yankees star Derek Jeter.
"A photo of a celebrity in New York is as common as a hot dog vendor," He said.
Selimaj says the letter came as quite a shock.
"I was really, really heartbroken because I have four daughters and Chelsea is like my daughter," Selimaj said. "She doesn't want to be there. If that comes from them directly, definitely, I will remove it. If she really insists to remove it," Reports CBS station WCBS-TV.

There are many reasons why Bill Clinton is requesting his daughter's picture to be removed from the restaurant. Perhaps, Bill is protecting his daughter from being exploited by everyone. Think about it. If this gentleman is using her face to promote his restaurant, everyone else will follow. Then poor Chelsea's face may appear on a product created by a "fly by night" company or worse, pasted on a naked body on the internet. I guess Bill is just being a protective father, still looking out for his offspring. There could be a monetary aspect to this case. Bill is teaching his daughter if anyone wants to use her face to promote a product or advertise a restaurant, then they should pay her to endorse it. Or, maybe there is something about this restaurant owner that Bill knows about, does not like and wants to distance his daughter from the owner and his restaurant. These days, anything is possible!

Good points Geenie, but again if she is afraid of any of these things happening why was she willingly to take a picture with the owner anyways? If she does not want others to use her picture, then do not pose with them, no?

According to the article, Chelsea is accustomed dining at the restaurant. I suppose she did not see any harm in posing for the photograph. Perhaps, the restaurant owner deliberately omitted to tell her that, he usually uses all "celebrity photos" to promote his restaurant.
It is unclear if Chelsea had a problem with the photograph at the restaurant. Her father instructed his attorney, to send a warning letter to the restaurant owner, to have the photograph of his daughter removed. First, we should ascertain, how old is Chelsea Clinton anyway? Over eighteen years old? If she is a minor, maybe this would explain why her father instructed his attorney to send the warning letter. If Chelsea Clinton is over eighteen, then the restaurant owner is within his right to state that, if Chelsea had a problem with the photograph in his restaurant and insisted for it to be removed, then he would do it. I do not think that Bill Clinton is right to order the restaurant owner, to remove the photograph (if Chelsea is over eighteen) since he is not in the picture. The instruction should really come from his daughter.

She got recently engaged to her longtime boyfriend, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. I'm pretty sure the Clintons are happy since they're good friends with the family of the boyfriend. The father of the fiance though Ed Mezvinsky was released from federal prison last year after pleading guilty in 2002 to charges of bank and wire fraud.
