The alleged incident comes just one day before the special election in which Gianforte faces Democratic candidate Rob Quist and Libertarian Mark Wicks. The Gallatin County Sheriffs Office is currently investigating the matter, Sheriff Brian Gootkin said in a statement. Ref. USAToday.

Mr. Gianforte went too far when he body slammed this reporter. The reporter was wrong for bursting in Mr. Gianforte's office and shoving a microphone in his face. But Mr. Gianforte should have simply pushed the reporter away and then either called the police of had his assistants eject him. Instead, he got up, grabbed the reporter, and then body slammed him. That goes too far.

You have a politician who resorted to a violent act because he could not handle a few questions. Granted at times it take some hands on to diffuse a situation but from what I hear on this he was in the wrong. There are much easier ways to diffuse a situation without body slamming another.

Exactly my point. And this guys wants us to send him to Congress. What happens when he has to make an important decision, will he base it off of facts or just raw emotion, like when he body slammed that reporter? People in Congress need to be able to control their emotions. They can use them to inform, but they shouldn't be controlled by them.

My understanding of the surroundings wasn't that it was a private place but an open area hence so many people witnessed it. Even reporters from Fox who tend to be pro Republican are backing up the reporter.

Vex,

I heard he was in a room sitting down and preparing for Fox to come in and interview him. Then, this reporter burst in and started asking him questions and shoved a microphone or something close to his face. That's when he got up and body slammed the reporter. Fox was there because they were preparing for the interview. This is just background… he was still so wrong doing what he did. And also, this is what I heard on the news earlier, new information may be out now.
