For the first time, a woman is set to become a Marine Corps infantry officer. Women have engaged in combat extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan. But until recently they were barred from combat arms jobs, such as infantry. Ref. USAToday.

As long as the standards remain exactly the same I don't care who does what job. But what can't happen is lowering the standards so women can be allowed in. They need to be able to carry the same weight rucksack, the distance, at the same speed. I served with pretty tough women that could do just that.

I have no issues if you are a woman, man, or something else as long as you do you job and do it in the manner that is acceptable. If you are putting others at risk then it is time for you to go elsewhere. I think it is nice seeing a woman as a officer in the Marine Infantry.
