As everywhere in the US, citizens of DC enjoy complete freedom of religion as guaranteed under the First Amendment. There are five recognized places of worship for Buddhists in DC and Buddhists are free to celebrate where they please and how they please. As far as famouns Buddhists go, there are 3 members of Congress who are Buddhist and live in DC for a goodly part of the year. The most famous is probably Mazie Hirono, the first Buddhist to serve in the Senate.
