But others such as this seem to promote suicide. I feel bad for their parents and family.

Anyone who researches The Church of Satan will realize that things like this tragedy are not endorsed. The Satanism that Anton LaVey put forward is a philosophy, not a true religion. Satanism holds life as sacred. With rules like never infringe upon another's freedom and individuality, never harm a child, never harm an animal except in self defense or to provide sustenance and never make sexual advances or remarks to another unless they've given a clear sign it's welcomed, their rules are more moral than most main stream dogmas.
Their rituals are more community theatre for release of negative emotions and/or to express an attraction to another. Curses are ways to release hate and purge yourself.

There is no blood letting or ritual sacrifice in Satanism and it is not theistic. Satan is used as a symbol to express the disdain for the oppressive Christian dogma.
The idea that every one should be able to be themselves no matter what their sexual desires are, as long as everything is consensual and no children are involved, without persecution.
The teachings insist that an individual alone is responsible for their actions instead thanking or blaming some mystical being.

Satanism is a worship of self and teaches moderation in all things and to avoid compulsive and excess. When you are compulsed to do something like smoke, drink, over eat and do drugs you become that thing's slave.

I did a thesis on Satanism in college. The Church of Satan is the most misunderstood organization in the world. Things like this are tragic and ridiculous. Theistic Satanism is a joke and LaVeyan Satanists condemn it openly.
